Extent of Spurious (Counterfeit) Medicine in India
At the World Health Assembly in May 1988, many countries
expressed concern about counterfeit drugs circulating in their markets. The
assembly adopted a resolution, which requested the governments and
pharmaceutical manufacturers to cooperate in the detection and prevention of
falsely labelled, spurious, counterfeit or
substandard drugs. The prevalence of counterfeit drugs has been reported from
developed as well as developing countries but there is no accurate data
